Resources Relating to LGBTQ+ on campus

ON-CAMPUS

  • Gender and Sexuality Alliance (GSA): The Gender and Sexuality Alliance provides a safe and supportive community for LGBTQ+ students on campus. Allies are welcomed into this space to help provide this support. Education of the community, allies, the school, and each other on relevant and important LGBTQ+ topics is also a focus.

  • Safe Zone: Safe Zone is an initiative through the Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies program at Augustana College to help make our campus a safer and more affirming place for LGBTQ+ students, faculty, staff, and administrators.

OFF-CAMPUS

  • Clock, Inc.: an LGBTQ+ center that provides support groups, education groups, counseling, speaking/trainings, workshops, community events, and a consistent location for LGBTQ+ individuals in the Quad Cities area. 

  • One Human Family QCA: The One Human Family of the Quad Cities Area is an organization that promotes diversity and inclusion in the Quad Cities area. Our mission is to welcome and protect the life, dignity, and human rights of all people in all places in our community. 

  • OneIowa: One Iowa seeks to improve the lives of LGBTQ Iowans by protecting and advancing equality and inclusiveness through education, improving workplace culture, and increasing access to quality healthcare across our state.

  • Outreach Quad Cities Transgender Support: A social, educational, and support group for any individuals who identify themselves as transgendered.

  • The Project: Providing health management, coordinated care services and advocacy to those impacted by HIV/STI/AIDS and other related conditions.

Get involved in the Quad Cities LGBTQ+ Community

  • Bottoms Up Quad Cities Burlesque: a burlesque troupe that features vaudeville style dancing, comedy, theater, and strip tease all in a body positive space. 

  • Mary’s on 2nd Street: a longtime queer bar in Davenport for those 21 and up. 

  • QC Unity Pride: a parade that celebrates LGBTQ+ diversity in the Quad Cities every summer.

  • Places of worship that are explicitly LGBTQ+ friendly

    • Metropolitan Church of the Quad Cities

      • It is our mission to proclaim God’s inclusive love and to provide informal, lively worship. Come as you are. We welcome everyone with open arms and without judgment. You and your spiritual journey are welcome here. 

    • Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Quad Cities

      • Consider joining us as we work for social justice. This project’s purpose is to create a safe environment in our Congregation and the larger community where LGBTQIA individuals can participate openly in the responsibilities and the benefits of the community without fear of penalty or discrimination due to their sexual orientation or gender.
